Until 2008 she was the Diploma Coordinator at Lauriston Girls’ School in Melbourne, Australia, a position she has held for 17 years since the IB programme commenced at the school. She has extensive experience in introducing the IB Diploma and supervising its expansion as well as coordinating the EE and CAS programmes, teaching TOK and IB History.
For the past three years Denise has remained active in IB affairs. She is a Team Leader for Paper 2 in History, an Assistant Moderator for internal assessment and an assistant examiner of History Extended Essays and has led IBDP Coordinator and History workshops for the IBAP. She has worked for the IBAP on Five Year Review panels and authorisation visits as well as undertaking in-house workshops and consultancies for individual schools in various areas including Extended Essays and Theory of Knowledge for all teachers. As well as this Denise teaches two subjects in the Melbourne University Postgraduate Certificate in Educational Studies (International Baccalaureate). All participants are requested to bring with them the following:

The arrangements for this workshop are different from the usual pattern but equivalent in time needed to complete the course. While the face to face contact is only two days, pre-workshop and post-workshop online participation is required for all participants.
Pre-workshop activities to be done on the class wiki:
Self-introduction explaining IB experience especially with regard to EE.
Read the article by Hickey and write a reflection to share. (About 400 words)
Reflect on one EE experience up to now. If you have not yet supervised an essay interview someone who has done so either in your own school or elsewhere. (It does not matter that you may be only half way through a particular student’s supervision)
Post- workshop activitieswill be discussed and formalised in the last session but will include some form of completion of EE school plan and a workshop reflection.
